The Behringer Powerplay P16-I is a part of the Behringer P16 monitoring system. It is designed to convert up to 16 analog inputs into 24-bit digital audio, allowing you to send the audio to your P16-M Personal Monitoring Mixers. The P16-I also includes ADAT optical inputs that automatically detect and prioritize incoming signals. It is suitable for use in both live performance venues and professional recording studios. Seamless ULTRANET Integration is a revolutionary technology created by renowned engineers at Klark Teknik, MIDAS Turbosound, and Behringer. This technology enables you to transmit up to 16 independent channels of 24-bit digital audio and control data using a single CAT5 cable between compatible digital devices. This includes I/O stage boxes, powered loudspeakers, and personal monitoring systems. ULTRANET creates a powerful digital eco-system that allows you to have unparalleled control over every element of your audio production environment from one convenient location.
The P16-I input module features two 8-channel ADAT optical inputs with auto detect and priority select, making it compatible with existing ADAT equipment. Additionally, it has 16 balanced TRS audio inputs that can be used to send audio from analog outputs to your P16-M mixers. An onboard switch allows you to choose from 4 gain positions per channel, and status LEDs on each channel provide at-a-glance monitoring.
The installation process for the P16-I is intuitive and straightforward. A basic installation consists of one P16-I input module, which connects to the main mixing console, and up to six P16-M personal mixers. All of the equipment can be connected together using standard audio cables and CAT 5e cables.
The P16-I input module offers several features, including the conversion of 16 analog inputs into 24-bit digital audio that can be transmitted via a standard CAT5e cable. It also has 2 x 8-channel ADAT optical inputs with auto detect and priority select, as well as 16 balanced high-headroom TRS audio inputs. The module is equipped with state-of-the-art 24-bit A/D converters for premium audio quality, and a 4-position gain switch per channel. The digital inputs support 44.1 and 48 kHz sample rates, and the system latency is less than 1 millisecond. Additionally, there are Signal Present and Clip LEDs per channel, as well as ADAT status LEDs. The standard CAT5e connection can deliver power and signals for up to 6 Personal Mixers. The module also features 6 ULTRANET expansion network connectors (RJ45) and an internal switch mode power supply (100V – 240V). It is designed and engineered in Germany.
The P16-I input module has specific specifications, including 24-bit 44.1kHz/48kHz A/D Conversion, a 24-Bit Delta-Sigma Converter Type, and a latency of less than 0.9ms (From P16-I to P16-M). The frequency response is 20Hz – 20kHz +0dB/-3dB, and the dynamic range is 92dB typical. The power supply is 220V – 240V, with a power consumption of 35W. The module is equipped with a standard IEC receptacle for mains connection. Its dimensions are 44mm x 482mm x 190mm (H x W x D), and it weighs 2.1kg.
The analog inputs connectors of the P16-I module include 16 x 1/4 TRS balanced line-level inputs. The input level is +4dBu optimal / +22dBu maximal. It has an input gain of -10dBV / 0dBV / +4dBu / +22dBu adjustable, with a gain selector of 4 positions per channel. The digital inputs connectors consist of 2 x optical inputs, and the input format is ADAT 16-Bit/20-Bit/24-Bit 44.1kHz/48kHz sample rate with 8 channels. The synchronization is from ADAT Input A only (External Clock). There are 2 LEDs for indicators, and the input selection is auto select for channels 1-8 / 9-16. The digital outputs type is ULTRANET, and there are 6 RJ45 connectors.
