Artist series For this Artist Series model Yamaha approached American legend David Bilger for his professional opinions and suggestions throughout the design and testing process. A famed soloist and virtuoso Mr. Bilger has played alongside The Philadelphia Orchestra the Dallas Symphony Philharmonia Virtuosi of New York and many others across a long and distinguished career. With his guidance Yamaha designers scrutinised the redesign of parts and manufacturing down to a microscopic level in order to produce an instrument with unmatched tone control and balance. Original leadpipe design Combining a leadpipe that is slightly thicker than usual a lighter mouthpiece receiver and an original style Malone Pipe Yamaha have attained a richer tone and an improved response whilst achieving an ideal blowing resistance for the performer. Bob Malone – originally a trumpet player himself – opened a custom brass shop in Los Angeles in 1983. His original leadpipe design was widely acclaimed and caused trumpeters at the time to throng his shop to have him customise their instruments personally. His designs now retain huge popularity amongst modern musicians due to their brilliant tone and projection. After Malone joined Yamahas Research and Development team in 2001 his leadpipe designs have made their way into a number of Custom series instruments and Xeno Artist models. Offering incredible responsiveness and intonation this unique leadpipe design elevates the playability of the YTR9445 enormously. Redesigned bell and valve casing Refinements in the production of the valve casing and bell have allowed for a deeper tone and better projection and a redesign of the meeting-point between the two elements has helped to optimise playing resistance. Thinner valve casings and pistons increase responsiveness – and are balanced out by a new bottom seam in the bell. Meanwhile the branch tube from the third valve has a new modified angle improving the instruments stability; and the shapes of the piston buttons top caps and bottom caps have all been redesigned for a more balanced playing experience. Optimised weight distribution The main tuning brace has been extended and made heavier so as to achieve more blowing resistance and to add exceptional tonality giving greater tonal presence in orchestral settings. The shape and position of the bell braces has also been modified to achieve better weight balance which allows for better expressive freedom. The weight distribution of the water key arm and bridle has also been revised to allow for easier access to the high notes. Premium carry case The YTR9445 comes included with a premium professional-quality TRC-800E double trumpet case. This sturdy backpack-style case is made from black artificial leather and has room for two trumpets or for a single trumpet plus mutes and other accessories. An outside pocket provides space for books and sheet music and the entire case is perfectly suited for carry-on luggage making it ideal for a professional musician on the move.
