Each new model features an inverted L-block which creates a deeper low end and a tighter body-neck connection. Additionally solid spruce tops die-cast chrome hardware and unique non-scalloped bracing help these new FG guitars build on the longevity and legendary status of the originals. The Yamaha FG700MS has a matt gloss natural finish while the Yamaha FG700S has a high gloss finished top back and sides. Many consider the thinner matt finish of the FG700MS to project a more open natural tone than a heavy high gloss finish of the FG700S.
