The Waldorf STVC String Synthesizer and Vocoder is a desktop synthesizer with a 49-note keyboard and vocoding features. It is inspired by the Waldorf Streichfett string synthesizer but adds a keyboard and vocoder for increased flexibility and functionality. The synthesizer comes with a gooseneck microphone that allows you to combine synth playing and voice-changing effects simultaneously. The Waldorf STVC is constructed with a durable and long-lasting metal chassis.
The synthesizer features a full metal case, ensuring its durability. It offers 49 keys with aftertouch and velocity for expressive performances. It also has pitch and modulation wheels for creating pitch bends and modulation on-the-fly. Additionally, it includes potentiometers, an encoder, backlit buttons, and switches for shaping and switching sounds. The Waldorf STVC has an oscillator bank with octave dividers, a mixer, and an equalizer for shaping and mixing your sound. The single registration knob allows you to sweep through the mixer and EQ settings, offering a range of sounds such as violin, viola, cello, brass, organ, choir, and more, ideal for creating smooth, rich, and creamy sonic textures.
The Walford STVC features a fully polyphonic string section that includes an oscillator bank, a mixer, EQ, and ensemble effect. This reimagines the function of 70’s string machines into a modern reproduction. It offers 126 programmable patches in 3 banks and a 16-voice synthesizer section that complements the string sounds. The single tone knob allows you to switch between different settings. Combining string and synth sounds allows you to create your own thick, rich, and full evolving textures, perfect for spacey sci-fi films and retro styles.
The STVC allows you to create vocoder effects with your own voice using the included gooseneck microphone. The microphone connects to the top panel of the STVC, making it easy to speak into the microphone while playing. The vocoder replaces the EQ section in the string section with a filter bank that models the vocal tract from the speech input. You can modify the formants of your speech to create high or low pitched vocoding effects. The STVC also features optional jitter for the string oscillators and a freeze mode that repeats a short fragment of speech when you press a key.
The Waldorf STVXC comes loaded with a range of effects, including reverb, phaser, and ensemble/chorus. These effects allow you to create powerful and evolving textures effortlessly. The tweak section allows you to modify the modulation of details like the solo cutoff frequency of the chorus LFO rate. The reverb effect also has adjustable size. Combining the reverb with the phaser and animate effects simultaneously allows you to create warping, evolving textures.
