Waldorf Blofeld Synthesizer Desktop Module White
The Waldorf Blofeld Synthesizer in white is a cinematic, dramatic, and incredibly functional synthesizer. This analogue emulation offers a unique blend of analogue emulation and digital vibrancy. The system is based upon the revolutionary wave synthesizers of the early 80s. On first listen, the Blofeld is sure to invoke nostalgia, but its regularly updated firmware means it’s always on the cutting edge of synthesis technology.

The Waldorf Blofeld features three oscillators which feature high-end circuit models of analogue waveforms. It also borrows the two wavetables from Waldorf Q, incorporating them into the first two oscillators. ROM wavetables from the flagship Waldorf Wave are also included. This innovative wavetable synthesizer features everything you need for live performances and sound design. The combination of ring modulation, a noise generator, advanced filters, envelopes, and LFOs makes the Blofeld one of the most versatile synth modules on the market.

At the heart of the Waldorf Blofeld are three oscillators which are designed using authentic circuit models of analogue oscillators. Included are pulse waveforms with variable pulse-width, sawtooth, triangle, and a sine wave. This wide selection of analogue-based waveforms allows you to create everything from natural and organic sounds to aggressive basslines and pads. The Blofeld also includes waveforms from other Waldorf synths, such as the ROM wavetables from the flagship Waldorf Wave Oscillator and the Upper Wavetable from the classic PPG Wave.

The integrated ring modulation circuit allows you to texture the sound of oscillators one and two, perfect for creating unique timbres. The Blofeld also features a built-in noise generator, allowing you to use white noise as a starting point for sound generation. From here, you can filter the noise generation through the built-in filters and Noise Colour settings. You can mix the three oscillators, ring modulator, and noise generator into filter 1 and filter 2 for in-depth sound design.

The Waldorf Blofeld possesses two multimode filters per voice that can be routed either in series or in parallel. Each filter comes complete with its own Pan parameter, perfect for creating immersive stereo sounds. The multimode filter has low pass, band pass, high pass, and notch settings, with toggleable 12dB/oct or 24dB/oct slopes. The built-in filters also offer freely controllable Drive parameters, allowing for various forms of distortion.

Each of the three LFOs offers various waveforms and can be synchronized to MIDI clock. They can be polyphonic or monophonic and can be reset on key trigger. The speed can be scaled by MIDI note, and there are separate delay and fade in/out parameters. The Blofeld LFOs reach well into the audio frequency range, making them useful as extra FM sources.

The Waldorf Blofeld comes in a sturdy metal enclosure and features a graphic display, endless stainless-steel dials, and LED indicators. It offers over 1000 sounds, three oscillators per voice, frequency modulation between the oscillators, two independent multi-mode filters per voice, filter FM, drive stages with selectable drive curves, fast LFOs and envelopes per voice, a powerful arpeggiator, and more.

The synthesizer is compatible with both Windows and Mac operating systems and uses a standard USB MIDI driver provided by the host computer. It also features various connectivity options, including MIDI In and USB connectors for MIDI In/Out. An external power supply is required for operation.
