The Vox AC30X Custom is a modernized version of the classic AC30 amplifier, known for its iconic sound in the 1960s British Invasion. This new Custom Series has been enhanced with modern features, making it the most versatile Vox amp to date. With two 12″ Celestion Alnico Blue speakers, every sound is emitted with clarity and precision, allowing for all the nuances of your playing to shine through. It’s an incredible amp with excellent tone.
There are two channels available on the Vox Custom Series amps: Normal and Top-Boost. Each channel has its own Volume control, and the Top Boost channel also offers interactive Treble and Bass tone controls. This powerful combination of channels allows for endless tone-crafting possibilities, giving you the ability to create a classic sound that is uniquely your own. The Master section includes Tone Cut and Volume controls that work in tandem with the individual channel volumes. The Tone Cut control operates in the power stage, providing additional tone-shaping capabilities. The Master Volume control, when balanced with the individual volumes, allows the Custom Series to deliver anything from a clean “chimey” sound to a powerful overdriven tone.
The Custom Series amps also come equipped with the VOX Classic Tremolo effect, which can be adjusted for both speed and depth, giving you full control over your sound. A warm Spring Reverb is included as well, adding spaciousness to your tone. The AC30X Custom even has an additional tone control in the Reverb section. With the optional VOX VFS2 footswitch, you can easily turn the Reverb and Tremolo effects on and off while playing. There is also an effects loop for incorporating your favorite effects, with True “Bypass” switching to remove the entire effect loop from the circuit.
The AC30X Custom is powered by 3 x 12AX7 preamp tubes and 4 x EL84 tubes, delivering 30 watts of power. It features two 12″ Celestion Alnico Blues for its speakers. The Custom Series amps all have a switchable 8/16 ohm output jack, allowing you to power an external speaker cabinet when you need more authority in your sound. Using this jack will mute the internal speakers. Additionally, there is a second extension speaker jack for running an extra 16 ohm cabinet along with the internal speakers, resulting in a fuller sound.
