Walnut is a rich dark wood that is firm in its resonance whereas birch is known for its focused sound and short sustain. The combination produces a sweet and mellow sound that punches through you – and the mix.They have also worked on the bearing edge creating a point of contact between the shell and head that optimises resonance and tone. With the top of the bearing edge carved 2.5mm in a rounded collar follows the head to create a conformed fit that is integral to Tamas legendary tone. Star-Cast mounting system These shells can resonate freely and safely with this system. Switching to aluminium Tama has made the hardware lighter whilst also increasing the true vibration of the drums. Stability and resonance on each tom. Quick-Lock tom brackets Fitted on both the rack toms and Star-Cast tom mounting system the Quick-Lock tom brackets do exactly as they say on the tin. Built into the bracket is a memory lock forgoing the need to use extra hardware or remember to set it. Simply slide the switch when the optimal position is found and voila. Swivel-Wing tom holder Able to move forward and backwards 100mm the toms can be positioned with greater freedom and flexibility ideal for adjusting to each players individual set-up configurations. Legs and spur designs Trademarked Air Pocket rubber feet allow the floor tom to resonate without the dampening properties of the surface its placed on. Injected into mould these hoops have increased density and are more consistent than the standard triple-flanged design. They also focus the tone and offer more consistent tuning thanks to the connection between tension bolt and hoop – something pivotal to find and holding a great tone.
