The shells feature a stunning spruce wood grain finish on the outer ply complemented by the die-cast hoops and the polished chrome hardware. The rarely come-by spruce shells offer a brilliantly resonant fat rich sound with solid mid-frequencies and a natural pure tone. The sound is finished with a gentle dry vintage decay due to the rounded outer edges and Tamas Sound Focus Rings on the inside of the shells. The die-cast hoops allow for easy tuning as well as keeping the drums in tune throughout play. The shells are finished off with attractive polished chrome hardware and Evans G1 coated batter heads for a continuous tone across the entire kit. Tamas Direct Flexi-Mount System The S.L.P Fat Spruce Shell Pack features Tamas newly designed Direct Flexi-Mount featuring a two-piece structure that instead of increasing resonance this system controls the vibration of the shell whilst allowing the shell to resonate more freely than traditional direct-to-shell mounts. The mount is made of a plate that is mounted to the shell and another piece that secures the L-rod of the tom holder/stand. The two sections are connected with a steel shaft allowing for some horizontal play. This is what controls the vibration of the shell allowing for increased resonance projection and tone as well as providing a smooth decay for a clear sound.
