Roland TAIKO-1 Electronic Taiko Percussion
The Roland TAIKO-1 Electronic Taiko Percussion is a modern take on traditional Japanese Taiko drumming. With Rolands positional sensing mesh head technology, this electronic Taiko drum is capable of producing a wide range of tones. It features dual-zone triggering on both sides for an organic feel and unlimited creative options. The TAIKO-1 is portable, powered by rechargeable batteries, and offers easy Bluetooth connectivity for silent rehearsals. It comes with a range of traditional Japanese percussion sounds loaded in its internal memory, but you can also load your own via USB. Please note that rechargeable batteries are not included.

Centuries of culture are at your fingertips with the TAIKO-1. Traditional acoustic wakaido drums can be cumbersome and difficult to amplify, especially for the dynamic nature of Taiko performances. The TAIKO-1 solves this problem with its onboard digital audio engine, which provides a full range of differently sized Taiko drums and more at the touch of a button. In addition to the drums, the TAIKO-1 includes variations of bachi (sticks), traditional cymbals called chappa, hyoshigi wood block sounds, layered samples for a drumline effect, and even vocal shouts and calls. You can also upload your own samples via the USB socket.

The TAIKO-1’s wireless capabilities make it perfect for modern performances. It can be powered using rechargeable batteries for up to five hours of flawless sound. With the included power supply, you can also rehearse at home for endless hours of practice. To reduce onstage cabling, you can combine the TAIKO-1 with a high-quality wireless system (sold separately) for a convenient and safe performance.

The TAIKO-1 has an ergonomic over-the-shoulder design inspired by the mid-sized katsugi okedo daiko drum. It is easy to assemble and lightweight, making it ideal for rehearsals on public transport or in the car. The drum reacts to your stick just like an acoustic drum thanks to Rolands positional sensing technology, with the timbre changing as you move from the center to the edge of the head. The rim sensors also allow you to play the body of the drum just like a real drum.

For quiet home practice, the TAIKO-1’s dual-zone mesh drum heads provide a natural feel and minimal acoustic noise. Simply plug in a pair of headphones and enjoy full-bodied organic drum sounds that react naturally without disturbing your neighbors.

The TAIKO-1 comes with various specifications and features, including an array of pads and drums, a library of instruments and user samples, effects, Bluetooth connectivity, connectors for outputs and inputs, a USB port, and power options with rechargeable batteries or an AC adaptor. It also includes accessories such as an owner’s manual. The size of the TAIKO-1 is 430mm x 430mm x 521mm (W x D x H), and it weighs 4.5kg/9lb 14oz (excluding the AC adaptor).
