The Rode TF-5 matched condenser microphones are a multi-application microphone designed in collaboration with legendary sound engineer Tony Faulkner. These microphones are perfect for your studio, providing beautiful tone and warmth. They are ideal for recording a range of instruments, from classical instruments like piano and violin to more modern recordings of acoustic guitars. The results are always nuanced and precise, and when used in a pair, the stereo recordings sound excellent. The TF-5s are versatile and precise, making them a must-have.
The TF-5 microphones can be used on their own or as a pair, and the sound quality is outstanding in both cases. Whether used as a single microphone for soloists or as a pair using different microphone techniques, such as ORTF, XY, or Spaced Pair, the TF-5s capture every nuance of your musicians’ performances. The included Rode stereo bar makes it easier than ever to use them as a pair. These studio-quality microphones provide your studio with the versatility and scope to record the best possible material for mixdown.
The TF-5 microphones feature a brand new capsule that provides incredible sound accuracy. The capsule has been precision-engineered to sub-micron tolerances, allowing it to pick up even the smallest details of the performance. This results in breathtaking sonic clarity and transparency, creating immersive and captivating listening experiences.
In the package, you will receive two TF-5 microphones, two clips, a stereo bar, two windshields, and a handbook. The microphones are small diaphragm cardioid microphones with exceptional transparent sound. They are a matched pair that comes with a stereo bar for easy rigging. The TF-5 microphones were imagined and designed in collaboration with Tony Faulkner and are manufactured at Rode’s state-of-the-art facility in Sydney.
The microphones have an exceptionally low noise floor, making them suitable for the most critical recordings. They have a frequency response of 20Hz – 20kHz (30 Hz – 20 kHz ±3dB) and an output impedance of 63Ω. The signal to noise ratio is 80 dB, and the equivalent noise is 14 dB SPL (A-weighted as per IEC651). The sensitivity is -29 dB re. 1 Volt/Pascal or better (35 mV @ 94dB SPL @ 1kHz), and the dynamic range is 112.6 dB (1kHz @ Max SPL). The microphones require 7mA @ 48V phantom power and weigh 114g each. The dimensions are Length: 98.7mm and Diameter: 20mm.
