The reissue is true to form cosmetically and sonically with a top-secret output transformer made in an undisclosed location to mimic the magical crushing tone of the original series. Improved consistency and tone After countless hours of A/B comparisons conversations with scores of users and artists and deep dives into the amplifier at a component level Peavey discovered some items had drifted resulting in a midrange that varied from amp to amp. In response they developed a top-secret output transformer which has improved consistency and tone. The reissued 6505 II Head includes six 12AX7 preamp tubes and four 6L6GC power amp tubes and has separate equaliser and power amp controls for each channel.
