The Superior Shell Technology is a proprietary technique involving suturing the maple wood plies with Pearl’s AcoustaGlue. The plies are then baked in high temperature with 1000 PSI of hydraulic pressure to produce indestructible shells that exhibit rich thunderous tones and outstanding resonance. This is a more shallow edge providing a focused growl and pop. This bearing edge pulls brighter overtones and increases the overall punch of the tone. Careful shell design for maximum quality First a premium hardwood is hand selected and formed into a precise 2-ply layer. Pearl’s trademarked overlapping seam Scarf Joint Seams are added to ensure a perfect airtight fit to each layer. The wood plies are then saturated with Pearl’s exclusive adhesive – AcoustaGlue which permeates every pore to the exact consistency of the wood for optimum resonance. During this process the plies are formed in high temperature molds with 1000 PSI of hydraulic pressure. Finally for optimal resonance strength and tonal quality – all of the shells are tested for flatness and roundness before drilling and assembly to assure supreme tuning.
