Moog Minimoog Model D Analogue Synthesizer
The Moog Minimoog Model D is a re-issue of one of the most legendary synthesizers ever created. It has been faithfully reproduced to capture the classic character and sound of this iconic analog synth. Moog has meticulously reproduced the internal circuitry down to the components, and it features a hand-crafted and locally sourced Appalachian cherry cabinet.

The Minimoog Model D made a name for itself in the synth world with its legendary low-pass ladder filter and three powerful oscillators. Its warm and unique tonal character has been used in countless hit records. While staying true to the original, Moog has also incorporated new modifications to bring it into the modern era. It now includes a dedicated analog LFO with triangle/square waveshapes and a premium-grade Fatar keybed with velocity and after-pressure via the top-panel CV jacks. MIDI connectivity and a mixer feedback modification have also been added.

One notable new feature is the inclusion of a spring-loaded pitch wheel for optimized expression. Not only does the Minimoog Model D look good, but it also sounds great. Each Model D is hand-built in Asheville, North Carolina by a specialist team. With its classic control panel and retro-style knobs, this limited-edition synthesizer is a must-have for any avid synthesizer fan. However, it is only available for a short time, so be sure to get it while you can!

The Minimoog Model D combines classic sound with modern innovation. It features the same internal circuitry and signal path as its predecessor, providing you with that signature Moog sound. The premium Fatar keyboard is a new addition to the Model D’s design, featuring expressive controls such as velocity and after-pressure sensitivity for natural and fluid playability. With this synth, you can create any sound you desire, from atmospheric pads to cutting-edge leads.

While this re-issue stays true to the original design, it also includes a range of upgrades and modifications. The trilogy of vintage Moog oscillators acts as the heart of the synthesizer, and modifications have been made to the CV Modulation and Overload sections. The CV modifications include new outputs added for Pitch Aftertouch Velocity and Gate. The Modulation section now includes an analog Triangle/Square wave LFO and Filter Envelope as modulation sources. The output of the Minimoog Model D can be scaled and fed back to the External Audio Input to deliver overdrive. The circuit board connectors have also been improved for touring reliability.

The design of this re-issue faithfully recreates the functionality and look of the original Minimoog Model D. The original synthesizer, first released in the 1970s, set a benchmark for analog synthesis and was used in a wide range of songs. Artists such as Dr. Dre, Gary Numan, Herbie Hancock, and Trent Reznor have all used the Minimoog Model D. This re-issue retains the original sound engine and audio signal path, capturing the essence of the vintage sound.

The analog circuit boards of the Minimoog Model D have been faithfully recreated using the original design blueprints and component placements. This ensures that the warmth and grit of the original analog design are captured. Custom reissued transistors are used to deliver exceptional sound quality and tonal character. The design has been slightly improved with new features such as the premium-grade Fatar keyboard with velocity and aftertouch. MIDI integration is also included, allowing you to use the Model D with MIDI compatible devices such as audio interfaces and DAWs.

The Minimoog Model D has a range of features, including a limited-edition 2022 re-issue with an Appalachian cherry cabinet, three powerful vintage Moog oscillators, a classic Moog low pass ladder filter with resonance, and analog circuit boards recreated using original designs and component placement. Custom reissued transistors are critical to the sound quality and character, and military spec precision resistors are used. The synth also features a precision Linear System matched JFETs in oscillators, classic thermoset knurled pitch and mod wheels, and CV modifications for Pitch, Aftertouch, Velocity, and Gate.

The Minimoog Model D also includes modulation modifications such as an analog Triangle/Square wave LFO and Filter Envelope added as modulation sources, as well as an External Modulation CV input. The Overload modification allows the output of the synth to be scaled and fed back to the External Audio Input for instant overdrive. The circuit board connectors have been improved for touring reliability.

The synth features a Fatar TP-9 keybed with velocity and aftertouch, as well as MIDI in, out, and thru. It has a number of specifications, including a 44-key keyboard range from F0 to C4, three oscillators, a voltage-controlled low pass ladder filter, and a range of contour attack and decay times. It has various inputs and outputs for modulation, audio input, and control voltage, as well as MIDI inputs and outputs. It is powered by a self-switching external power supply.

The dimensions of the Minimoog Model D are 28.625” width, 17.125” depth, and 5.75” height. It weighs 32 lbs. The synth has a storage temperature range of 5f to 140f and an operating temperature range of 10 – 50 c.
