Mapex Warbird 12
The Mapex Warbird 12″ x 5.5″ Signature Snare Drum is a superb snare drum collaboration between Mapex and Chris Adler. Best known for his time behind the kit in American heavy metal giants Lamb of God, Chris Adler needs his snare of choice to stand up to the most rigorous demands.

Enter the Warbird. Built with a 6-ply maple-walnut shell, the Warbird Signature Snare produces dark explosive sounds with sharp bite and aggressive attack. It’ll assert itself as the dominant force in any genre – particularly rock and metal when you’re up against fat crunchy guitars.

The Warbird includes all the custom Mapex trimmings you’d expect from a piece of Black Panther Design Lab kit: the SONIClear bearing edges, Sonic Saver hoops, and much more. This is no tick-box artist series snare. The Warbird Snare Drum is a fine instrument lovingly made and endorsed by one of the most exceptional drummers to ever do it.

Maple and walnut – a truly dynamic shell blend. What happens when you fuse the maple and walnut woods? The Warbird Signature Snare. Maple is a popular choice for drum shells the world over because of its tonal versatility and all-round warmness. Walnut bestows much fiercer properties, including fast attack and dark tones. Much harder than maple, it ensures pronounced projection for drum shells while bringing out the best of the maple’s melodic tones. An electrifying fusion that makes this snare drum a force to be reckoned with.

SONIClear bearing edges. Mapex’s unique bearing edge technology ensures better contact between drum head and shell. This increased head-to-shell contact improves shell vibration and allows for greater resonance, as well as easier tuning. With a stronger and deeper fundamental pitch, these bearing edge profiles allow you to enjoy the sonic nuances of the wood blend. The Warbird is designed for serious drumming warfare.

Staggered lug design. On the topic of tuning, the Warbird’s new staggered lug design offers an enormously wide tuning range. This brings out the very best of the Puresound wires, ensuring unparalleled sensitivity and delivering the snare’s dark, punchy, and explosive sounds as intended. Making a huge impression in any setting is so easy with the Warbird by your side.

Stunning etched eagle finish. In German, the name Adler means eagle, hence the eagle graphic on either side of the drum. This graphic is actually etched into the wood grain and, like a fine vintage piece of furniture, it looks stunning. And as with all of Mapex’s SAS finishes, the Warbird’s Satin Walnut finish brings out the gorgeous character of the wood blend while it also allows the shell to vibrate fully due to its extremely low-mass application.

About Chris Adler. Born in Washington in 1972, Chris Adler is simply one of the most exciting players to ever grace the heavy metal genre. Best known for his stint as Lamb of God’s founder and long-time drummer, his fast and furious playing style is underpinned by incredible precision and unorthodox technique, making him a real force behind the kit. For example, as a left-handed player, he’s adopted the unusual approach of playing a right-handed kit. He even served as Megadeth’s drummer between 2015 and 2017, performing on their Grammy-winning album, Dystopia.
