The order of the ply blend in these hybrid shells has been adjusted to move the walnut element to the center of the bearing edge, producing a warmer, slightly darker voice. Already known for its richness, this switch complements the maple element superbly. Stunning SAS lacquer finish. Even the drums’ luxurious Polar White lacquer finish is designed with the science of acoustics in mind – part of Mapex’s Sonic Attenuation System. This finish is achieved by repeatedly coating, buffing, and re-coating the shells, which heightens their overall pitch. Unlike hefty wrap coverings, these lacquer finishes are sprayed directly onto the shell, keeping their natural tonal range intact.
