This produces a warmer and slightly darker voice that complements the maple element. The rack toms of the Evolution have their own orbital rings called the Halo mounting system. This unique under-lug-line isolation mount allows each shell to resonate freely, resulting in pure tones. With the Saturn Evolution toms, you will experience the full sonic range and nothing less.
Mapex’s Chamber Specific Shell Construction treats each drum as an individual instrument. The larger the drum, the thicker the plies, and the depths and bearing edges also vary. This customized approach ensures optimal sound quality and resonance.

The TH800 SONIClear tom holders and Sonic Pedestal feet enhance the tonal resonance of the Saturn Series. The rubber feet prevent contact between the floor tom legs and the playing surface, while the steel legs rest on an elevated spring within the pedestal for maximum resonance.
The Gun Metal Grey lacquer finish is designed with acoustic science in mind. As part of Mapex’s Sonic Attenuation System, this finish is achieved through repeated coating and buffing of the shells, enhancing their overall pitch. Unlike wrap coverings, the lacquer finish preserves the natural tonal range of the drums.
The specifications of the shell pack include a 22″ x 18″ bass drum, 10″ x 8″ rack tom, 12″ x 9″ rack tom, and 16″ x 16″ floor tom.
