The Mapex Saturn Series drum shells are a combination of Maple and Walnut, creating a dynamic and versatile sound. Maple is known for its tonal versatility and warmness, while Walnut adds fast attack and dark tones. This fusion of woods makes these drums perfect for any style, technique, or venue. The added SONIClear bearing edges ensure better contact between the drum head and shell, allowing for increased resonance and easier tuning. The Saturn Series shells were designed to produce a strong and deep fundamental pitch.
The SONIClear tom suspension system by Mapex features low-mass holders that allow the toms to resonate freely with the heads and shells. This system enhances the wide sonic range of the shells and provides optimal resonance. Another innovative feature, the Chamber Specific-Nodal Line Air Flow Venting technology, ensures that each bass drum and tom in the Saturn Series has unique air hole placement. These vents are strategically positioned to prevent interference with the overall resonance of the shells.
To further enhance tonal resonance, Mapex’s Sonic Pedestal feet are used in conjunction with the TH800 SONIClear tom holders. These rubber feet prevent contact between the floor tom legs and the playing surface, eliminating vibration transfer and maximizing resonance. Each feature of the Saturn Series is the result of meticulous testing and design, aimed at empowering your drumming experience.
The configuration of the shell pack includes a 22″ x 18″ bass drum, 10″ x 7″ rack tom, 12″ x 8″ rack tom, and a 16″ x 14″ floor tom. The shell material is a combination of Maple and Walnut, with 6 ply construction. The bearing edges are SONIClear, and the hoops are triple-flanged 2.3mm Power Hoops. The air vents utilize the Chamber Specific-Nodal Line technology, and the floor tom legs have SAS Static 90° design. The finish is Teal Blue Fade, giving the drum set a visually appealing look.
