About Nate Smith Nate Smith is a highly talented American drummer composer songwriter and producer. Born and raised in Chesapeake Virginia his musical abilities were evident from a young age when he began playing the drums and learning piano by ear. Nates passion for music led him to pursue a percussion performance scholarship at James Madison University where he earned a B.S. in Media Arts and Design. Aside from his remarkable talent as a musician Nate is also an esteemed educator having served on the faculty of the Betty Carter Jazz Ahead program at The Kennedy Center. He has also been featured on various television shows and magazines garnering recognition for his exceptional skills.
