Varying tensions Helicores come in multiple tensions meaning you can ensure your strings are ideal for any cello or genre. A lighter tension needs less pressure to play though as a result can’t reach the same volume as other strings. Heavy tensions would require more effort but can produce more power and projection overall. We would recommend medium tension strings if you are unsure of which to choose as these provide a suitable “in between”. Ideal construction Steel wires braided together make up the cable cores and add strength while preserving flexibility. The lower two strings have tungsten-silver winding on 4/4 length and tungsten-nickel on smaller sizes. Tungsten and silver both boost warmth while nickel resists corrosion. The upper strings are titanium-wound brightening their sound. Sizing Usually the size of your cello is the type of string that you would need however if you’re unsure of your instrument’s size then you can double check!
