Split E and Offset G Mechanisms This flute has two mechanisms that make it an easy instrument to play. The offset G mechanism is more suited for instrumentalists with smaller hand spans. The G key is positioned slightly further away from the flute in a more ergonomic position for smaller hands. The split E affects the top E on the flute which is generally a weak sounding note. The added mechanism improves the final quality of the sound making it a more responsive instrument.
