Its automatic harmony engine can detect the chords and key you play on your guitar, generating smooth and natural two/three-part harmonies in real-time as you sing. You can also select different harmony modes for refining the harmonies to suit songs with more complex key structures. The harmony engine can also be driven via MIDI, allowing you to generate pitch-perfect live harmonies with a MIDI keyboard or DAW-based backing tracks.
The VE-500 also features a dedicated pitch correction section driven via guitar or MIDI. It can be used for transparent pitch stabilization or replicating heavily affected sounds heard on modern hits, from hard pitch correction to electronic tonalities and even robot-voice sounds.
Inside the VE-500, you have access to a wide range of effects for crafting nearly any vocal sound imaginable. This includes compressor EQ and de-esser tools for shaping your core vocal tone, as well as reverb, delay, modulation, and specialty effects like distortion and filtering. You can use up to nine effect sections simultaneously with flexible routing options for processing live and harmonized vocals together or separately. The VE-500 also features a dedicated looper, perfect for layering vocals or creating backing vocals.
The VE-500’s large display and panel controls make it simple to create and recall sounds on-the-fly. You can save your setups to one of the 99 user patch locations for instant recall during performances. The pedal also comes with editor/librarian software for tweaking and organizing sounds from your computer. Three panel knobs can be assigned to favorite parameters for on-the-go tweaks, and the three integrated footswitches provide access to functions like patch selection, individual effects on/off, harmony and looper functions, and more. You can also expand control with external footswitches, an expression pedal, or MIDI.
