Behringer SD8 Digital Stage Box with Padded Bag
The Behringer SD8 Stage Box is equipped with 8 MIDAS-designed mic preamps and 8 balanced analog XLR returns at the stage end. It also features an integrated 2-port Ultranet distribution hub. The SD8 is designed to connect onstage performances with the Front of House console and the rest of the world. It is compact in size and suitable for both permanent installations and mobile applications. The included Bag is padded with 20mm thickness and has a durable exterior to ensure the protection of the SD8 stagebox during transportation.

MIDAS is known for its legendary sound quality in the world of audio mixing consoles. With their no-compromise approach to audio and build-quality, MIDAS has earned an impeccable reputation, especially for their Award-winning Mic Preamps. Behringer is proud to incorporate MIDAS designed preamps in the SD8 to ensure high-quality audio reproduction in live and studio environments.

When used as part of a complete X32 system, the SD8 can be combined with up to three other SD8 Stage Boxes via the built-in AES50 ports. This creates up to 24 bidirectional channels and 24 balanced XLR outputs. The built-in Ultranet distribution hub provides power and 16 channels of audio to 2 Behringer POWERPLAY P16-M personal monitoring mixers per SD8, all using CAT5e cabling without the need for additional hardware. The SD8 also features two programmable inputs that are compatible with Hi-Z sources, allowing the connection of keyboards, acoustic guitars, and more without the need for a DI box.

Setting up the SD8 is easy, with most parameter control taking place at the console. This includes control over the MIDAS-designed mic preamps, +48V phantom power, destination routing, and more. Simply place the SD8 in the desired position, run several CAT5e cables along with mic and instrument cables, and control the rest from the FOH console.

The Klark Teknik SuperMac – AES50-Compliant – technology provides high-capacity, ultra-low latency digital connectivity. Klark Teknik engineers worked closely with Behringer to ensure that the SD8 meets and exceeds the requirements of today’s musicians and professional audio engineers.

The SD8 Stage Box features 8 MIDAS-designed fully programmable mic preamps that deliver audiophile sound quality. It also has 8 analog servo-balanced XLR outputs and AES50 network ports featuring Klark Teknik’s SuperMac networking capability for ultra-low jitter and latency. The built-in Ultranet distribution hub allows for powered connection of 2 Behringer P-16M personal monitoring mixers. The SD8 also provides digital audio and control connectivity for Turbosound speaker systems with Ultranet networking. Rack ears and protective bumpers are included for both installed and mobile applications. Dual AES50 ports are available for cascading multiple units without the need for a merger or router. Remote operation is possible via shielded CAT5e cable up to 330ft / 100m length, and system updates can be done via the USB connector and a PC. The SD8 has an ultra-compact and roadworthy all-steel chassis, designed and engineered by Behringer Germany.

The specifications for the Behringer SD8 Stage Box include 8 balanced XLR/TRS combo input connectors, 8 MIDAS-designed microphone preamps, 8 balanced XLR line output connectors, 2 RJ45 Ultranet outputs, a frequency range of 10Hz – 22kHz, a dynamic range of 105dB, and output levels of +4dBu / +21dBu. The AES50 SuperMac networking allows for 2 x 48 channels bidirectional, with a cable length of up to 100m (CAT5 Shielded). The ULTRANET networking provides 1 x 16 channels unidirectional, with a cable length of up to 75m (CAT5 Shielded). The A/D-D/A conversion type is Cirrus Logic A/D CS5368 & D/A CS4385, with a 24-bit conversion at 44.1kHz/48kHz and a dynamic range of 114dB. The network I/O latency is 1.1ms, and the power supply is 100V – 240V with a power consumption of 35W. The SD8 has dimensions of 33.3cm x 14.9cm x 9.5cm and weighs 2.5kg / 5.5lbs.
