The Behringer Neutron is a semi-modular, fully analog synthesizer that features a paraphonic design. It utilizes a fully analog circuit and recreates the classic VCO design for optimal sound performance. The semi-modular architecture includes an array of connections, including patch points and MIDI I/O, as well as default routings that don’t require any patching. The heart of the synth lies in its dual 3340 analog oscillators, which provide a wide sonic range for unprecedented sound design capabilities. Users can blend seamlessly between different waveforms, such as tone modulation, pulse, sawtooth, triangle, and sine waves, to achieve unique sounds.

When used in paraphonic mode, the Behringer Neutron allows for independent control of both oscillators. This versatile feature is ideal for live performances, as it allows for dynamic changes on the fly. The synth also features individual pulse width and tone modulation control for precise sound adjustments. It includes a self-oscillating multi-mode Voltage Controlled Filter (VCF) with dual output, enabling users to shape their sound using powerful filters. Two analog Attack Decay Sustain Release (ADSR) generators provide modulation of the VCF and Voltage Controlled Amplifier (VCA), allowing for further sound manipulation and customization.

The Neutron also includes an analog delay and overdrive circuit. The analog delay is based on the classic Bucket Brigade Delay (BBD) technology, providing rich and warm delay effects. The overdrive circuit adds a touch of analog warmth and edge to the sounds, bringing out the brash side of the tones. Additionally, the synth features a noise generator that dramatically changes waveform generation for experimental sound purposes. The flexible Low Frequency Oscillator (LFO) offers five waveform shapes, MIDI clock sync, and key sync.

The Neutron Synthesizer features a control section with 36 controls and 7 buttons, providing direct access to all parameters in real-time. The layout is ergonomic, with clearly annotated rotary controls. The 32 in / 24 out jack matrix offers a wide range of patching options, allowing for hands-on parameter control and communication with other equipment. It also includes a patchable audio-rate sample and hold with glide for enhanced creativity.

Key features of the Neutron Synthesizer include its paraphonic architecture with dual 3340 analog oscillators, pure analog signal path based on legendary VCO design, semi-modular architecture with default routings, individual pulse width and tone modulation control, self-oscillating multi-mode VCF, analog ADSR generators for modulation, multiple-stage analog delay based on BBD technology, overdrive circuit, flexible LFO with five waveform shapes, and a noise generator for waveform expansion. The synth also offers utility functions such as attenuators, multiples, slew rate limiter, and summers for creative patching flexibility.

The specifications of the Neutron Synthesizer include 2 V3340 analog oscillators, 1 LFO, 1 VCF with dual output, 2 analog envelope generators, external input and output connectivity, MIDI In/Out, USB MIDI, oscillator section with various controls, sample & hold section, slew rate limiter section, attenuator section, filter section with various controls, noise section, VCA bias control, filter mode, and LFO section with controls and switches. The synth also includes a delay section with time, repeats, and mix controls, as well as an overdrive section with drive, tone, and level controls.

Overall, the Behringer Neutron synthesizer offers a wide range of features and capabilities for sound creation, with its all-analog, semi-modular design and classic VCO technology. It is a versatile and powerful tool for musicians and sound designers alike.
