Behringer KOBOL EXPANDER
The Behringer KOBOL EXPANDER is a versatile analog semi-modular synthesizer designed in a Eurorack format. With its authentic reproduction of the original “Kobol Expander” circuitry from the 1970s, this synthesizer offers a pure analog signal path based on authentic VCO, VCF, and VCA designs.

Featuring dual oscillators with seven variable waveforms, oscillator sync, and pulse width modulation, the KOBOL EXPANDER allows for infinite sound creation and complex effects. Its unique 4-pole VCF design provides natural saturation that can only be found in “Kobol” synthesizers, adding depth and character to your sounds.

Designed for immediate performance, the semi-modular design of the KOBOL EXPANDER requires no patching, making it accessible to both beginners and experienced synthesizer enthusiasts. It also features comprehensive MIDI implementation, allowing for MIDI channel control, Voice Priority selection, and polychaining, as well as an external audio input for processing external sound sources.

French excellence recreated Powerful and versatile, the Behringer KOBOL EXPANDER is an authentic reproduction of the original “Kobol Expander” circuitry from the 70s. This synthesizer captures the true essence of vintage analog sound. Known as France’s answer to the Minimoog, the mono synth the EXPANDER is based on has seen use from Jean-Michel Jarre, Hans Zimmer, Peter Gabriel, Depeche Mode, Vince Clarke, and Vangelis.

Versatile sound design Featuring two voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs), the KOBOL EXPANDER allows you to explore a wide range of sonic textures and create complex soundscapes. With seven morphing waveforms and a noise generator, as well as pulse width modulation and oscillator sync.

One of the standout features of the KOBOL EXPANDER is its unique 4-pole VCF (Voltage-Controlled Filter) design. This design delivers a natural saturation that is synonymous with “Kobol” synthesizers, adding warmth and depth to your sound. The KOBOL EXPANDER also includes an analog LFO (Low-Frequency Oscillator) with two selectable waveforms and multiple destinations, enabling advanced sound creation and modulation possibilities.
