The Behringer 2600 Analog Synthesizer is inspired by a vintage synthesizer and aims to retain the same iconic sound. This limited edition version of the Behringer 2600 was created in collaboration with synth engineer Rob Keeble to stay true to the original while incorporating modern updates. The synth features two filter types, three VCOs, an envelope follower, ring modulator, and various other features for versatile sound design. The Blue Marvin edition includes special touches such as a mechanical spring reverb, uni-color LEDs on each fader, and a retro paint job.
The 2600-style synthesizer is a re-imagining of a classic, with a design based on one of the most renowned synths ever created. It captures the essence of the original, which was widely used in popular music during the 70s and 80s. The semi-modular design and premium analog circuitry result in rich and powerful tones, making it a favorite among sound designers. The original synth was famously used by artists like Herbie Hancock, Pete Townshend, and Edgar Winter. The Behringer 2600 faithfully recreates the original circuitry to deliver the same wide range of sounds.
At the core of the 2600 are three VCOs with FM inputs and semi-modular architecture, providing a diverse range of tones. The default waveforms can be changed to square, triangle, saw, sine, or pulse waveforms. The synth also offers the option to switch any of the VCOs to a low-frequency oscillator for bass-driven sounds. With its extensive range of modules and effects, including ring modulation, envelope following, noise generation, and digital spring reverb, the Behringer 2600 offers endless possibilities for sound shaping. The synth features 83 patch points, allowing for virtually any sound you can imagine.
The 2600 includes both AD and ADSR envelope generators, offering maximum versatility. One envelope generator has variable attack and release, while the other provides full ADSR control. These envelopes can be retriggered using the manual start button and offer gate and trigger outputs for connecting to external modular systems. The synth’s intuitive design features clearly labeled sections and control paths, with 73 buttons and faders for easy sound design. The robust and eye-catching design is housed in a rugged 8U chassis that can be rack-mounted.
Key Features of the Behringer 2600 Blue Marvin include a mechanical spring reverb, hand-picked components, uni-color LEDs on each fader, and an exclusive vintage-style paint job. Created in collaboration with Rob Keeble, who was part of the team behind the original synth, the Behringer 2600 stays true to the classic design while offering a modern sonic character. It includes two filters from different versions of the original synth, three powerful VCOs, an envelope follower, ring modulator, VCF section, integrated voltage processor, and sample and hold section. The synth also features an accurate exponential generator with SMD design to minimize the need for tuning oscillators.
