Arturia SEM-Filter is a highly-accurate plug-in emulation of a classic Oberheim synthesizer SEM filter. Using Arturias proprietary True Analog Emulation (TAE) technology this plug-in is indistinguishable from the real hardware with added digital benefits to improve functionality and flexibility for modern producers and musicians. Delivering the same classic morphing filter via the low-pass high-pass and notch Mode filter SEM-Filter has been upgraded with a soft-clipping switch for enhanced distortion a noise oscillator for vintage flair gate sequencer and complex modulation matrix. Unique filter design Bringing a new dimension to your audio Arturia SEM-Filter stems from a 2012 release of the SEM V; an analog-modelled emulation of a classic Oberheim synthesizer. Using proprietary modelling techniques SEM-Filter has been recreated to produce an indistinguishable tone and response to the hardware original containing all the original filter parameters with some additional features for added spice. The Mode knob is where the filter stands out. It allows for a continuous switch between low-pass notch and high-pass. When swept it gives a peculiar morphing effect. The Input noise knob includes a noise source which you can achieve very interesting results when combined with the filter and resonance. This works immaculately on clean guitar passages where increasing the Input Noise level blends in white noise into the source giving a classic vintage effect. The Soft-Clip feature lets you clip in the incoming signal bringing some additional warmth such as those found on analog output stages. It can be used to add subtle colouring or on higher input gain values completely distort the signal. Using this in combination with the Dry/Wet blend control lets you achieve parallel processed techniques for added consistency and punch or to reduce the impact of your effect. The Gate Sequencer is used to send trigger messages to the two other modulation sources. This means it tells them when to play. When a step is lit it will trigger the associated modulation source either the LFO or the envelope. The Envelope is triggered each time the step of the Gate Sequencer is enabled making it extremely useful to add rhythmic elements to static sounds. What is a flat and sustained sound can be changed into something with more groove to complement your track. The integrated LFO has a wide range allowing for slow modulation up to FM-like effects. The added Smooth parameter softens the slope of the waveform. With the Smooth control you can change square-like sounds to more rounded triangle-like waves. Vintage tone modern addendums Though delivering an identical tone to the hardware original thanks to Arturias TAE analog emulation technology SEM-Filter includes 21st-century functionality for modern producers and composers. Fully MIDI-compatible you will have access to every parameter on your keyboard controller or any other MIDI device making it an ideal solution to integrate into your live performances. Introduce a vintage flavour to your filtering tones with the Noise Oscillator circuit a new addition which blends in white noise to your signal to push enhanced frequency ranges into your filter tone. On the hardware original it was possible to drive the filter into saturation with the right settings but now this has been made incredibly easy with just one switch. Turn Soft-Clipping on and push the input gain to take your sound from subtle peak level trimming to full-blown analog-modelled distortion. Functionally SEM-Filter has been improved with the Gate Sequencer module an easy-to-program sequencer which lets you retrigger the envelope and LFO mod sources. Create vibrant animated and filtered sequences in just a few clicks. To add a little bit of creative versatility to Filter SEM we included a concise modulation matrix letting you get creative and explore sound design potential never possible with the original. Powered by technology Using proprietary modelling algorithms the Arturia SEM-Filter can recreate the iconic hardware down to the component parts to create unrivalled realism and immersion. Unmatched in analog emulation SEM-Filter is powered by TAE and Phi technologies. TAE offers component-level modelling to accurately present the characteristics and behaviour of the hardware whilst Phis state-of-the-art physical modelling brings the acoustic properties into the virtual world for hyper-realism. The result is truly a next-level sound that is indistinguishable from the original to add to your productions.
