That’s why the SSL Native Drumstrip is designed to streamline the drum processing workflow by combining five custom-tuned processors into one plug-in. With the SSL Drumstrip, you can achieve punchy, powerful, articulate, thick, and full-bodied drum sounds. Each module has been tailored to meet the needs of modern producers, engineers, and musicians looking to enhance their drum sound to the next level. The plug-in includes familiar modules such as EQs, a gate, and a compressor, but they are implemented in the unique SSL way.
The Gate module allows you to set close and open threshold levels for precise gating based on the quiet and loud sections of your audio. This is perfect for gating out unwanted noise while preserving the drum’s natural tail. The Transient Shaper enhances the attack portion of your drum hits, ideal for adding punch to weak or poorly recorded bass or snare drums, allowing them to cut through the mix. The Low Freq Enhancer and High Freq Enhancer are specifically tuned for drums, providing flexible control over the low-end punch and high-end sizzle and articulation. These modules feature a wide frequency range, a Drive control for pushing the enhancement, and an Amount control for blending wet/dry processing.
The classic Listen Mic Compressor, taken from revered SSL hardware, is included in the Drumstrip with added functionality. It allows you to smooth out spikey peaks and create a cohesive and glued sound by adding compression. The newly implemented Narrow Band feature enables full-range compression for drum bus or entire mix applications. With its functionality, the SSL Drumstrip gives you complete control over your signal flow and processing. You can rearrange the five modules in any combination to suit your drum and session. The A/B functionality allows you to audition between two settings simultaneously, making it easy to find the right sound without dialing in different settings. Once you’ve found the perfect sound, you can save it as a preset and load it in future sessions without starting from scratch.
