The Radial Tonebone Bassbone OD 2-Channel Bass Preamp is a versatile tool that allows you to take control of your tone. With two channels, this preamp is perfect for a wide range of situations. You can easily switch between different electric basses, as well as an upright bass and an electric guitar with a pick-up. You can even use it with a violin!
Using the pedal is incredibly easy. Each channel provides a variety of controls to adjust your sound’s equalization and dynamics. If your instrument has both a piezo and magnetic pickup, you can plug in both for innovative tonal blends. You can also use the preamp to quickly switch between different tones during your performance.
The Bassbone offers versatile tonal options. Input A comes with a recessed function switch, making it perfect for instruments with piezo transducers. By selecting this input into the outward position, it also works well with bass instruments that have passive and active pickups. Switching the input inward increases the independence from 220k to 10meg Ohms, but it also comes with a 10dB boost. This can be engaged to smooth out the transient peaks of a piezo pickup if they are excessive.
Input B has a drag control feature, which is great for emulating the “pure” tone of plugging your bass guitar directly into an amplifier without any buffers to color the signal path.
The Bassbone also has several useful features such as a three-band EQ for tonal tweaking, a main output for connecting to a stage amp, a built-in DI box with a balanced output for connecting to a PA or mixer, a combination power boost/cut footswitch with level control, and an effects loop with send and receive jacks and wet/dry control.
There is also a piezo-optimized input specifically designed for upright bass and a dedicated tuner output.
The dimensions of the Bassbone are 6.8″ x 4.5″ x 2″ (175mm x 114mm x 52mm), and it requires a 15VDC power supply. The manufacturer offers a 3-year transferable warranty on this product.
