The pedal offers a wide range of modulations to choose from, including classic chorus, flange, and phaser effects, as well as dynamic dimension, rotary, and filter effects. It also features original Boss effects such as the slicer from their SL-20 slicer pedal and the overtone from their MO-2 Multi Overtone Pedals Sound. With twelve modes and a total of twenty-eight different algorithms, this Boss pedal refreshes standard modulations and enhances expression, extends the tonal range, and maximizes transparency.
In A/B simul mode, you can use two modulation patches simultaneously, opening up a range of tonal possibilities. You can run the two mods in series or parallel, expanding the tone-shaping capabilities of the pedal. Additionally, there is an external loop that allows you to connect a gain or drive pedal for added versatility. You can adjust the effects order to create different tones, setting the drive/gain pedal before, after, or in between the two modulation effects.
The MD-500 is designed to deliver creative expression and performance flexibility. It has a large LCD display that shows patch names, delay times, and other important information, making it easy to adjust parameters and control features. The assignable switches and extensive support for real-time control are perfect for various applications. The MIDI I/O provides even more creative possibilities and deep control options. You can also connect the modulator to your computer via the USB port and use the free MD-500 editor/librarian for remote editing, patch backup, and more.
